A growing number of portable devices, including notebook PCs, are adopting the USB Type-C PD standard that can charge up to 100W, providing a common charging platform. At the same time, wireless charging is gaining traction, increasing the demand to support both charging methods.

But delivering the wide power supply range required by USBPD requires an added boost function, and enabling two simultaneous charging methods to operate at the same time requires charge ICs and an MCU to control charge switching, presenting a significant barrier to introduction.

By combining its USBPD IC with proprietary semiconductor technologies, ROHM has met these needs, delivering dual-input charging ICs that support multiple power input sources.

BD99954 is a Battery Management LSI for 1-4 cell Lithium-Ion secondary battery, and available in a 40pin 0.40 mm pitch 5.0 mm x 5.0 mm QFN package and small 41-ball 0.4mm pitch 2.6mm x 3.0mm Wafer-Level CSP package. It is designed to meet high degree demands for space-constrained equipment such as Low profile Notebook PC, Tablets and other applications.
